Spalted Maple Trestle Table
Spalted Red Leaf Maple, Reclaimed Barn Oak, Zebrawood & Walnut
L62" x W33" x H28" / L1575mm x W838mm x H711mm
The table top is made from two pieces of beautifully figured bookmatched slabs. The dark contrasting lines and colouration on the ends of the top were caused by fungi also known as spalting. The cracks are stablised and decorated with bowtie joints made from Zebrawood. The trestle base is made from Oak which was reclaimed from an old barn, most of the nail holes were covered with patch work leaving only prominent ones as a reminder of its previous purpose.
This trestle design allows a comfortable seating for 4 and a maximum of 6 (one on each end) with spacious leg space. Suitable as a dining table or work desk. Finished with three coats of hand-rubbed food-safe oil finish.
